Living Here
Inevitably, life is focussed on the towns in the area. Each has its own character, its own shops, schools and pubs, its own traditions; and it is hard to convey these without taking you there. But wherever you go in the Circuit, you are always aware of the countryside, of the hills; you may be among buildings, streets and estates, but you are never trapped in them. Lift up your eyes to the hills - from them comes both refreshment and sanity. It is usual to reckon six towns in the area: Stroud, Stonehouse, Nailsworth, Dursley, Berkeley and Wotton-under-Edge; though the inhabitants of Sharpness may resent this! Each has websites and tourist guides to help you appreciate them better; go here to find them, as well as some personal notes. FacilitiesWhat about the more mundane aspects of life here? Well, you might want to know about schools, shopping, eating out, enjoying yourself, or just getting out of here! |
