| Stroud and Dursley Circuit | |||||
| Bristol District |
|
The Circuit will initiate, encourage, support and co-ordinate its local churches in regular worship of God, spreading the Gospel of Christ, growth in faith and caring and effective Christian service in local communities |
|
To share Jesus' love in word and action To be open to new ways in the worship we offer to God To be open to and value all people To grow in faith as individuals and as a Church To be relevant to society in our worship and witness To be encouragers, especially to our Minister |
The Church is well placed in the town centre and has recently undergone a refurbishment and extension development so that its up to date premises make an acceptable venue for outreach to the community.
The membership of 83 together with a community roll covers ages from teenage to the nineties and we are one of the few churches with a Sunday School and Youth Club - led by committed parents. We also have an active JMA and are the only Church in the Circuit with an active Choir.

We have a music group which plays on occasions, a Worship Group which leads services about once a quarter and takes services in other churches in the Circuit. There are four Local Preachers in the congregation.
Very variable styles of worship are acceptable within a worshipful atmosphere which has avoided the extremes of "happy clappy" and the ultra traditional.

We are aware that our new premises (which have disabled access etc) give us new opportunities of outreach and are glad that we already have regular and occasional bookings from outside. We want to grasp these opportunities and as a result of a Strategy Review last Autumn we have an ongoing review of policy with regard to outreach, growth and nurture which we hope will keep us on our toes!
Ecumenically we take part in Churches Together in Cam and Dursley activities - Lent groups, evening services as arranged, and the Good Friday procession of witness which leads to the planting of the Cross on Cam Peak. We work to raise the profile of ecumenical activity in the Church and town and the CTCD Magazine is edited by one of our members. (We do not have a monthly Church magazine ourselves)
