| Stroud and Dursley Circuit | |||||
| Bristol District |
|
The Circuit will initiate, encourage, support and co-ordinate its local churches in regular worship of God, spreading the Gospel of Christ, growth in faith and caring and effective Christian service in local communities |
We are a very happy group who all get on extremely well although most are over 70.
All the members participate in Area Services but due to their age do not really want to come to circuit meetings etc.

Books available are 'Hymns & Psalms'.
The organist has recently had to retire because of eye problems, and Crimea Butler Downton, a good friend of the Church (and of several other Churches in the area) is playing for them at the moment. He is himself partially sighted, and has other disabilities; but his superb musicianship and strength of character are more than sufficient to overcome them: it is a joy to hear him play.
We prefer worship in the traditional format, and do find more radical styles rather difficult.
The regular congregation is 11, but this can increase on special occasions.
We hold a large plant, cake, jams, bric-a-brac and coffee morning on the Tuesday after Easter, which is very well supported; the proceeds usually go to a third-world children's charity.
Everyone that visits our services, whether they are leading the act of worship or in the congregation, enjoys the atmosphere and the sense of history that one feels in our chapel.
