The Circuit will initiate, encourage, support and co-ordinate its local churches in regular worship of God, spreading the Gospel of Christ, growth in faith and caring and effective Christian service in local communities |
We, as the worshipping community of Stonehouse Methodist Church, are part of the world-wide Methodist Church and are called to respond to the Gospel of God's love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission.
In Worship this Church seeks to give praise and thanks to God for his love shown through Jesus and share his love through fellowship, prayer and by fostering a sense of community belonging
Our Mission includes telling the good news of Jesus to everybody and showing our caring love through our giving and practical action.
The present building was opened in 1955 on the edge of a housing estate (formerly council, but much now in private ownership). It consists of the main chapel plus a multi-purpose hall and a smaller room, a (fairly) modern kitchen and toilets. The main hall has only recently been refurbished, and toilet facilities for the disabled have also been included.

Other Church activities include a Wednesday afternoon Fellowship meeting and two Study Groups which meet in members homes. We also have a Short Mat Bowls Club & the premises are home to local Guides & Brownies and a Play Group.
During Lent we host a weekly Austerity Lunch organised by the ladies of Churches Together in Stonehouse.
From time to time we hold inter-church Focus meetings where topics of more general interest (GM Foods & Drug abuse for example) are spoken about and discussed.
We publish a monthly newsletter.
We belong to Churches Together in Stonehouse (the current moderator and secretary are both Methodists).
We have a strong telephone prayer network organised by one of our housebound members, which we feel is a very important powerhouse for all of us.
